a pinterest inspiration becomes reality

It's been almost a month!!!  Wow.  Lots of reasons to blame my lack of blogging on, but instead I'll just share a project we're working on.  :)

Daniel totally scored with lots of free wood and an amazing shop to work in (he was in heaven!).  All we had to provide was one board that we picked up from Home Depot for super cheap.  Not too shabby!!  We've been reaaalllly good at spending no money on fix-ups so far for this house, and we've been in it now for almost 3 months!  I say that's pretty impressive for us (me).  :)

Anyways, we painted the wall behind the system a dark blue instead of buying more wood to create a back for it.  We'll add drawers and cabinet doors down the road when we come across cheap materials again, so for now it will look like this (the bottom photo).  We have the primer and paint to finish it, so hopefully that will happen in the next week so I can take an "almost finished" progress photo to share.  In the middle photo you can tell we finally painted part of the kitchen/family room area.  It's from Martha's paint line: "gull."  It's a very light tan, with a tad bit of yellow in it.  It's growing on me.  :)  You can see where the white is from taking the TV down...so a little bit of difference.  The system will be a light gray also from Martha's line.  We're hoping to use the same color on our cabinets one day, so it's a good way to test the color out!  We've done a couple other fun things around here, small, but progress is progress!
